Midway School

2012 Round Rock Contest
Here is the official 2012 Round Rock Contest Form (will open in PDF)! Have your rock turned in by April 20 here at the Harbor History Museum.
In 1951, Gig Harbor businessman and promoter C.E. Shaw created the Round Rock Contest. Same as today, the winner of the roundest rock received a grand prize of $100. For the first contest, the entries were displayed throughout Gig Harbor at various businesses sponsoring the event. Participants would bring their rock to a nearby sponsor. The roundest rock would be put on display. At the end of the contest, each merchant would submit their roundest rock entry. Today's rules and regulations are the same as those used in the original round rock contest.
