Donkey Creek Chum Festival
October 2011 (Specific date coming soon)

Since 1972, the Gig Harbor Commercial Fishermen's Club has incubated salmon eggs at Donkey Creek, releasing over 1 million fry into Gig Harbor Bay each year.  Every fall, mature salmon find their way from the open sea back to Austin Estuary; fighting their way up the culvert into Donkey Creek to spawn. In celebration of this annual event local environmental groups and fish enhancement advocates have joined hands to promote a better understanding of and improve the conditions for our salmon and watersheds. The event includes booths, Kayak Races, Chum Burgers, Refreshments, "Paint Your Own Salmon" t-shirts, and the giant FIN salmon planned for 2011.  To learn more, click here.
